I lived in the same house on East Wolfe Street - it's where I had many bike wrecks, 4 cats named "Kelly"; it's where I got a toothpick stuck in my foot and had to go to the hospital to get it out; it's where my parents reside and will continue to reside; it's the place where my brother moved out and then back at least 3 times; it's where I gained some pretty hilarious stories about being in trouble and the "Incredible Hulk" coming out. It's home.
Spent some years in a college dorm and two years in a house with friends - but that was all still home.
I have officially left home and am now trying to grow new roots in Lynchburg. It could just be for the two years that it takes me to finish my Seminary degree or it could be forever. However long, though, it is my new home.
I'm not quite sure how I got to where I am today, as I sit here and type. Looking back over the past year, there have been a whirlwind of events to transpire and somehow work together and settle here, in Lynchburg. {Okay, enough background...}
July 22, 2010 - I packed up my car, hit the familiar interstate combination {81S, 64E, 29S} and arrived in Lynchburg to move into my new apartment with my new old roommate, my best friend.
The first couple of days were just getting my stuff unpacked and trying to get settled.
Fast forward 11 days: God has taught me a TON. Here is a brief run down...
"Godliness with contentment is great gain." 1 Timothy 6:6 {It's worth taking the time to study}
Spiritual sulks will get us nowhere with God and will only cause us to sulk more.
Sometimes God calls us to wait so that He can work: "To wait is not to sit with folded hands, but to learn to do what we are told." {i.e. Get Prepared!}
The body of Christ is everywhere and has nothing to do with a building or church name.
God is always working; no matter our perception of the situation, God is working. {Ref. Habakkuk 1:5}
2 hour car rides with your best friend in the rain with no more than 10 words spoken are not fun.
30 minutes of "Real Talk" with your best friend is amazing.
And most importantly: God is always with us, walking right beside us and carrying us when we are too weak to take another step.
There will be more updates to come - at least that is my intention. This new season is uncertain and scary in my mind, but God is faithful and good, so there is nothing to fear but fear itself.
Blessings,
byrd lady
